Makerspace FAQs

Before school, 7:30-8:00am; After school, 3:30-4:30pm, M-Th; when your teacher reserves the Makerspace for project work during class time.
The cougar stickers in the Makerspace indicate how to use tools and supplies. Green = GO. Use these tools and supplies however you like, within reason and without waste. Yello = CAUTION. These supplies and tools have a specific purpose and should ONLY be used for that purpose. If you want to use them for a different purpose, PLEASE ASK FIRST. Red = STOP. In order to use these tools and supplies, you must be trained and have permission. ALWAYS ask before using. When in doubt, just ask!
It depends. In many cases, yes, but please check with Ms. Clements before you add your information to the 3D printing queue. Files that are too large or deemed inappropriate will not be printed.
Yes! But keep in mind that you will need to allow enough time to have your file printed (usually a couple of week days) and that your files must not be too large or too complex to print in a reasonable amount of time. Plan ahead and Ms. Clements will work with you to get your designs printed for your school project.
The Makerspace is not a production factory for your entrepreneurial endeavors. You may make items to gift and items for yourself. You can also use the Makerspace to prototype as many items as you like and make as many versions of an item as you need, while you are figuring out a design. You may use the tools in the Makerspace (sewing machines, die cutter, soldering iron, etc.) for items you plan to sell, but you will need to provide your own "consumables," the supplies used to make your items. Please talk with Ms. Clements about any entrepreneurial ventures related to the Makerspace. We will figure out a plan!
The Makerspace may close because the Librarians are not available to supervise the space or because there is a special event in the Library. The Makerspace may also close because guidelines have not been followed. The main reason the Makerspace closes is because folks have not cleaned up after using the space.
You can make sure the Makerspace stays open by being a good steward of the space. That means using materials and tools responsibly, helping others in the space, and cleaning up. For example, if you see something that needs to be cleaned up, pitch in and help!

Yes! Many of our supplies have been donated. Just let Ms. Clements know if you have something to donate.
